How to Clean and Maintain Microcement Flooring (So It Stays Looking New)

If you want a straight answer on suitability, send photos + suburb + rough m² and we’ll advise quickly.

Microcement flooring is generally easy to live with, but the finish that “stays looking clean” comes down to one thing: protecting the sealer system and keeping grit under control.

The one thing that causes most wear: grit

Most micro-scratching is not from “damage”. It’s from everyday grit under shoes acting like sandpaper. The fix is simple and boring, but it works:

  • Use entry mats
  • Vacuum or dust-mop regularly
  • Felt pads under furniture
  • Lift heavy items instead of dragging

What to clean with (and what to avoid)

Use

  • pH-neutral cleaner
  • soft mop or microfibre
  • clean water rinse if needed

Avoid

  • bleach and harsh disinfectants
  • acidic cleaners and strong degreasers
  • abrasive pads and gritty powders
  • steam mops (unless your installer confirms it’s suitable for your system)

Spills and stains

Wipe spills reasonably quickly, especially oils, wine, coffee, and strong pigments. The sealer provides resistance, but good habits prevent marks and reduce long-term wear.
